Hungary seeks Iran Help in Pakistan Gas Projects

TEHRAN, Dec. 04 (Shana) Iranian Minister of Petroleum Bijan Zangeneh said Iran is ready to cooperate with Hungary in developing gas projects in Pakistan


Speaking following a Monday meeting with visiting Hungarian Finance Minister Mihály Varga, Mr. Zangeneh said, "Pakistan does not seem to have taken any firm decisions regarding action upon a binding gas contract it has signed with Iran."
He said Hungary's MOL is willing to operate in Iran in certain areas, adding Iran also is ready to cooperate with the Hungarian company in oil projects.
The official said joining gas projects in Pakistan and oil swap in the Caspian region are some of the projects favored by Hungary in cooperation with Iran.
"Hungary has the experience of working in Pakistan's gas sector in exploration and production of the item and has operated in the country for years," he added.
"Our concern for joining Pakistan's gas sector is that this country offers no clear answer for how it intends to honors a binding contract for gas export it has signed with Iran," the official further said.
He said Iran is prepared to enter cooperation with Hungary, however it would be crucial that more talks be held regarding such cooperation between companies of the two countries.
"Besides, Hungarian companies have signaled willingness to buy oil from Iran."
Hungarian Oil and Gas Public Limited Company (MOL) has so far purchased an oil cargo from Iran.
